Morning & Luncheon Programs

Morning Session (11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
“Charitable Remainder Trusts – Using an Old Gift Planning Vehicle in a New Era"

The basic provisions in the tax code that provide for and govern charitable remainder trusts have remained largely unchanged for the past 25 years. Given the current economic and market conditions, as well as the ever-increasing challenges impacting donors, is this “old-standby” still a viable gift planning vehicle? From the basic mechanics of trust design to innovative new planning strategies, our speakers will provide valuable insight on how to use an old gift planning vehicle in a new era.

Luncheon Program (12:30 – 2:00 p.m.)
“Interpreting the Financial Crisis’s Impact on Philanthropy"

It has been almost 3 ½ years since the financial crisis that many commentators have labeled the worst in over 70 years. Yet the fall-out from this crisis is still being felt by our organizations, donors and clients. Our speaker will help place these events on a more human scale, which, in-turn will better enable us to have meaningful conversations about the current economy with our donors and clients.
