Handouts will not be provided at the 2010 Planned Giving Day. Instead, all attendees are requested to print out your own handouts in advance. The 2010 Annual One-Day Planned Giving Conference offers advanced, intermediate and fundamentals tracks for the veteran fund-raiser and for those just starting in planned giving. Breakfast Keynote Speakers

Greg Olsen
Civilian Astronaut

Greg Olsen is an American entrepreneur and scientist, a philanthropist and a member of a number of nonprofit boards. In October 2005 he became the third private citizen to orbit the earth on the International Space Station (ISS). He trained for five months at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Moscow, before he launched on a Russian Soyuz rocket TMA-7 with Cosmonaut Valeri Tokarev and Astronaut Bill McArthur (Expedition 12). He then docked to the ISS, and returned to earth on Soyuz TMA-6 with Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev and Astronaut John Phillips (Expedition 11). He performed more than 150 orbits of the earth and logged almost 4 million miles of weightless travel during his 10 days in space.

After an illustrious career as a research scientist and entrepreneur, Greg is now president of GHO Ventures in Princeton, NJ where he manages his “angel” investments, South African winery, Montana ranch, and performs numerous speaking engagements to encourage children – especially minorities and females – to consider careers in science and engineering.

Richard Reiss

Richard Reiss is the Senior Vice President for University Advancement at Fairleigh Dickinson University providing direction and leadership for the University’s philanthropic and alumni relations programs. Reporting directly to the President, he is a member of the President’sCabinet and the liaison to the Board of Trustees Advancement Committee. Current initiatives include expanding meaningful alumni programming and facilitating a comprehensive major gifts effort to support FDU’s educational efforts for its four campus locations found in Teaneck, New Jersey, the College of Florham in Madison, New Jersey, as well as Wroxton College in England and Vancouver in British Columbia.

Luncheon Speaker

Barlow Mann is chief operating officer of The Sharpe Group in Memphis, Tennessee and has been with the company almost since inception, personally recruited by Robert F. Sharpe Sr. to join them. Barlow is a nationally known speaker and a well respected resource within he planned giving community. He has over 25 years of experience in the field of planned gift development. He consults with leading nonprofit organizations and designs their planned giving programs, trains fundraising professionals at Sharpe seminars around the country, and speaks at nationally-recognized gift planning gatherings.

A graduate of Tulane University and The University of Memphis School of Law, Barlow was director of development at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences prior to joining The Sharpe Group.
